The aim of CIDG is to run KFx factory in Poland and ensure its supply of coal at the level of at least 5 million tonnes yearly in the perspective of 15 - 25 years.

KFx technology ensures investment efficiency and achievement of the cost-effectiveness in a short period of time. Properties acquired as a result of fuel KFx process provide added value to all participants of the project. Based on the results of the study and experience of the American partner, potential benefits for the plant's energy has been assesed.

Preliminary assessment of the benefits arising from the nature of the fuel KFx.

Use of K-Fuel technology ensures:

  1. Increasing the efficiency of the operation of the: mine-power station team.
  2. Making the fuel supply chain more flexible and fuel optimization through better use of existing coal mines.
  3. Reducing operational costs, the costs of measurement and devices control through increased calorific value of coal and increasing the efficiency of its combustion.
  4. Reducing operational and transportation costs as a result of reduction of fuel moisture, thereby lowering the weight while increasing its calorific value.
  5. Reducing emissions of NOx, SO2, Hg, and CO2. (Reducing emissions is required by law and constitutes a basis for emissions trading)
  6. Increasing savings from the reduction of reserves of coal power plants.

Business assumptions:

  1. To ensure the profitability of the project, the minimum annual quantity of coal is estimated at 4 to 5 million tonnes. Optimum quantity of coal to be processed during the year is estimated at 8 million tonnes.
  2. The minimum contracted period of delivery by the parties to the treatment of brown coal KFx must be 15 years. The optimal period is estimated at 20 - 25 years.
  3. Date of factory launch - max. 18 - 24 months from the date of obtaining the necessary permits.
  4. The minimum parcel area required for construction of a KFx factory, considering the assumptions of the point. 1 above, is 1 hectare. KFx factory should be located in close proximity to the mines that supply coal. The investment is not additionaly limited by any other location requirements.
  5. KFx needs to ensure that the factory will supply the power at the level of 10 MW.
  6. Installed equipment and raw material transportation devices depend on the mine labor, equipment used in mining and transport infrastructure. The basic equipment and facilities required in this area are: 1) conveyor and tipper; 2) silo for the storage of carbon; 3) silo for the storage of the product; 4) equipment for loading onto the train from the factory.
